The short version
RevKeep is local-first: your garage and maintenance data is stored on your device by default.
If you opt in to Cloud Sync, we store your email and your vehicle data on our cloud database so you can back up and sync across devices.
We do not show ads, run third-party tracking/analytics, or use advertising cookies.
You can export all your data anytime, and delete it locally or from the cloud.
Data we handle
1. Vehicle & maintenance data — stored on your device
Information you enter: vehicles (including VIN, license plate, year/make/model/trim, color, photos), service logs, mileage, costs, and reminders. By default this lives only in your browser/app storage on your device.
2. Account data — only if you enable Cloud Sync
Your email address and authentication information, used to create your account and sync data.
3. Synced data — only if you enable Cloud Sync
When sync is on, the vehicle/maintenance data above is also stored on our cloud database (hosted on Supabase, United States) so it can back up and sync across your devices.
4. VIN decode & recall lookups
When you enter a VIN, we send it to a vehicle-data service and to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to auto-fill your vehicle's specifications and retrieve open safety recalls. Recall data is sourced from NHTSA and is U.S.-focused.
5. What we do not collect
No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics/tracking scripts, no advertising cookies.
How we use data
Provide and operate the app (your garage, logs, reminders).
Sync and back up your data across devices (only if you enable Cloud Sync).
Decode your VIN and surface safety recalls for your vehicles.
Send essential account or security messages (e.g., sign-in links).
Service providers
Supabase — cloud database & authentication (synced data + account info), United States.
Vercel — application hosting/delivery.
NHTSA + VIN-decode provider — vehicle specification and recall data.
We do not sell your personal information.
Data location & retention
Local data stays on your device until you delete it or clear app storage.
Synced/account data is retained while your account is active; deleting your account removes it from our cloud.
Your choices & rights
Export: download all your data as a .json file anytime from Settings.
Local delete: "Wipe Everything" in Settings clears local data on your device.
Account & cloud deletion: delete your account and all cloud-synced data from Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing privacy@revkeep.app.
Depending on where you live (e.g., EU/UK GDPR, California CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, export, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. Contact us to exercise them.
Security
We use reasonable, industry-standard measures — including encryption in transit and per-user access controls (Row Level Security) on the cloud database — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure; keep your own backups via Export.
Children
RevKeep is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region) and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes
We will update this policy as the app evolves and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be surfaced in the app.
